THE MAYFLOWER GRACE

The Mayflower Grace is a soothing spa retreat and stylishly decorated 19th-century country house hotel amid 58 acres of manicured gardens in Connecticut. Just 90 miles away from Manhattan,  The Mayflower Grace will have even the most uptight urbanites feel relaxed and refreshed in a New York minute.

THE ROOMS
Spread between four charming buildings – Mayflower House, Speedwell Cottage, Standish Cottage and Allerton Cottage – there are just 30 rooms and suites at The Mayflower Grace, all offering luxurious furnishings and catering to every creature of comfort. The accommodations, each unique with varying color schemes, fabrics, and patterns, are all fairly traditional. Many are renovated, or refreshed, while the rest will undergo updates and freshening of the space bit by bit. It feels a bit like staying at Grandma’s house, if you’re grandma had very plush accommodations. That said, it’s still lovely and cozy and the accommodations do not disappoint. One thing that will remain throughout is the traditional décor.

THE SPA
One of the most remarkable features of the hotel is undoubtedly The Mayflower Spa, a haven of serenity. The stunning spa offers a series of a la carte treatments throughout the week and a variety of restorative wellness packages to boot. The moment you walk into the 20,000-square-foot Spa House, all your worries are washed away. The all-white, tranquil design feels more like a residence than a hotel facility, truly making the experience that much warmer and even-more inviting – it instantly feels like a home-away-from-home. The grand relaxation room, with floor-to-ceiling windows, is a place where you could honestly spend all day lounging in. At The Mayflower Spa, guests are invited to immerse themselves in a personalized program built with the assistance of a personal wellness advisor who will tend to your individual intentions. There’s an amazing array of heavenly treatments, from massages to body scrubs and rejuvenating facials, with all-natural products that are as effective as they are safe. The Spa House is also home to four fully equipped exercise studios, offering a range of classes from Yoga to Pilates, Dance and even Aquatics.

THE FACILITIES & DINING
The main building houses the lobby, a restaurant and bar/tavern, as well as two separate library and lounge areas. Both areas are cozy with fireplaces, couches and even board games. It’s the perfect spot to relax, read the paper and cozy up to a cup of coffee. The property also features an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court, a five-hole putting green, and a fitness centre. The indoor pool is located in the spa and uses bromine instead of chlorine (which your skin and hair will thank you later for!). The heated outdoor pool is only open from May through October, where lunch or lite bites can also be enjoyed.

The food on property is not to miss (this is a Relais & Chateaux property, after all). The main dining room overlooks the Shakespeare garden while serving both lunch and dinner. It features seasonal menus of upscale American cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. For a more casual dining outlet, the Tap Room is located just around the corner. They service delicious and handcrafted cocktails and the food does not disappoint. They play live music on Saturday nights and is the perfect spot for a more cozy, casual gathering.
